Becoming Iron Tyler Is Now an Audiobook
I came for the tattoo.
That's the first line of Becoming Iron Tyler, and now you can hear me say it. The book is an audiobook on Spotify, and it's live on ACX, the platform that publishes audiobooks to Audible.

If you haven't read it: in May 2023 I finished Ironman Tulsa at forty-two. That's 2.4 miles of open-water swimming, 112 miles on a bike, and a full marathon, back to back. The book is what the training actually looked like. Pre-dawn rides in thirty-degree Texas winters. A cycling rally through the mountains of Colombia on pure faith and an orthodontist's word. Three rounds of COVID. One night of involuntary Lizzo concert instead of sleep. And a dark two-mile climb back into Tulsa with everything already spent.
It is not a book about inspiration. It's a book about a tattoo.
The narrator is me. Sort of.
I'm not a voice actor, and I wasn't going to spend six weeks in a closet with a microphone. So I recorded about an hour of myself just talking, the way I talk, and built a digital copy of my voice from it. That voice reads the whole book.
Getting it right took more than pressing a button. Every chapter got an emotional map before a single line was rendered: where it's dry, where it's tired, where it's funny, where it finally breaks. The machine also read me faster than I actually talk, which is saying something, so the final cut is slowed to a pace that sounds like a narrator instead of a guy late for a meeting.
Spotify labels it as digital voice narration, which is accurate. It's my voice, my words, and my race. A computer just did the reading.
